Orange head roaches (Eublaberus prosticus) are tropical cockroaches indigenous to South America. They can grow up to 50mm long as adults. While adults possess wings, they cannot fly. This species does not climb, meaning they cannot scale smooth surfaces. They are nocturnal, being most active at night, and tend to be quite shy and skittish when disturbed. The lifespan of adults is approximately 1 year, and they are livebearers.
These cockroaches thrive on a soil or coir-based substrate, along with stacked egg crates for hiding. They do well at room temperature but should ideally be kept in the high 20's to 30 centigrade. Their diet consists of chopped vegetables and fruits, supplemented with dry cockroach chow. Under the right conditions, they can be quite prolific!
