Death's head cockroach (Blaberus craniifer)

The death's-head cockroach (Blaberus craniifer) is a sizable, nocturnal roach. These roaches can grow up to 8 cm (3 inches) in length, have a dark brown to black body, and feature black wings that cover their abdomen, though they cannot be used for flying; nevertheless, adults are capable of gliding over short distances. They originate from Central America and Florida, inhabit forest floors and decaying wood, and are generally docile, making them favored as pets or feeder insects.
